In 2013 we are once again offering a brilliant English Channel sailing voyage to adults from all walks of life. You don't have to have sailed before, and you will get to be part of a totally hands-on sailing experience.
This voyage is ideal for people who have been on a day sail and would like to try something a little longer. It's also a great little voyage to kick-start the sailing season and get everyone passionate about being on the water again.
Joining the ship in her hometown, Weymouth, Dorset, on 15th April at 1000hrs, you will be welcomed aboard by the Captain and crew and signed on as a member of trainee voyage crew. After being shown to your berth, given a tour of the ship and being introduced to your new crew mates, the ship will set sail from Weymouth with everyone getting involved. This includes taking the helm, pulling on ropes, bringing the RIB aboard, even climbing the rigging to set the sails. All activity is undertaken under the watchful eye of our permanent crew, who are there to support, advise and train you every step of the way.
The ship will head due South past the Isle of Portland and her stunning Jurassic Coastline. Weymouth and Portland were proud hosts here to the 2012 Olympic sailing events. The ship will then enter the busy shipping lane of the English Channel, continuing South towards the Channel Islands of Alderney, Guernsey and Jersey.
Where the ship stops will depend almost entirely on the weather conditions - wind strength and direction plays a huge part in where the ship can berth. If possible, we may also make a stop in Normandy, France.
The ship will then begin her return to Weymouth, heading due North away from the Channel Islands, returning to Weymouth Harbour for disembarktion on 19th April.
