Ever wondered what it 's like to sail a traditional square rigged sailing ship? Well here is your chance...
Join the TS Pelican and enjoy a great sailing experience - "before the mast" on a square rigged tall ship from a bygone era (ages 12-80*).
It's a taster! Come aboard TS Pelican as a passenger and experience part of the beautiful Jurassic Coast, England's first natural World Heritage Site, spanning 95 miles from Exmouth in Devon to Studland Bay in Dorset.
Get involved in pulling lines, setting sail and steering the ship, all under the supervision of our expert crew. Alternatively, sit back, relax and enjoy the complete experience!
Day sails are for the whole family (12-16 year olds must be accompanied by an adult).
A welcoming hot drink and a bacon butty on arrival, a hearty lunch, afternoon tea and refreshments throughout the day are included.
Back in port, there will also be an opportunity to explore the ship.
Please arrive between 0900 and 0930. You will be met by one of our team who will confirm your arrival on a crew list. There is a designated area for you to leave any bags, coats etc (at your own risk).
Following a welcome briefing, the Captain will outline his plans for the day. There will be a short safety briefing prior to departure at approximately 1000 hrs.
For those interested, instruction on setting sails will be given throughout the day.
At the Captain’s discretion and weather permitting, there may be an opportunity for an assisted climb “up and over” the rig to the first platform.
Our itinerary and where we go depend on the weather on the day of the sail. Plans may need to change, for example, if the wind is against us.
Lunch is provided and is usually served at around midday. Normally there will be two sittings; one at 1200 hrs and one at 1240 hrs.
Afternoon tea with freshly baked cakes or scones will be served at approximately 1530 hrs.
Please arrive between 0900 and 0930. Boarding after 0930 will be at the Captain's discretion.
